Nomination Period for RCCEA Officers / FAMAT is currently open!

We are at that point of the year where we need to nominate and elect RCCEA officers for 2026-27. Do you know a union member who is passionate about making a difference? Who advocates for equity and inclusion? Who is interested in joining a team that will help shape the direction our college is moving in? Could that member be… you?

While some positions have specific, associated duties (treasurer for example), the main duty is to actively participate. For RCCEA officers, this generally means showing up to our officer meetings, helping us brainstorm and problem-solve any issues that have come up, with the occasional “hey, can you work on this thing?” request. Total time commitment? About 3 – 4 hours a month, pretty much the same as any other RCC committee. For full-time faculty, RCCEA actually counts as one of your required committee obligations!

Because 2026-27 will be a bargaining year, the time commitment for FAMAT will be heavier than in non-bargaining years. Meetings are typically on alternating Fridays (never on ATC days), and last about four hours. I know, I know… it’s a heavy lift. I’m asking a lot. But participation is vital to protecting and strengthening our collective bargaining agreement (CBA). What we decide this coming year will be set in stone until the next bargaining year.

The due date for nominations is Friday, May 22, 2026, and nominees must be current union members. Please let me know if you have questions!
